Dearest Ate and Kuya,
During these six months of quarantine, we knew that you have been dying to go out with your friends again and have fun that our boring house cannot give you. We knew how wide your horizon was that was why we can barely saw you at home to play with us. As much as we want you at home with us, we also knew that we cannot satisfy you with our childish hobbies. It was funny how we live under the same roof but grew apart.
That was exactly why we were worried about you, teaching us with our modules. I can still remember how pressured I was to pick up the things you were saying the last time you tutored us two years ago. Our knees were trembling so badly, and we cannot think straight because we feared you but please knew we have been waiting for this to come. We were so excited to sit right next to you: the simplest thing but is also the rarest scene for us.
After reading until here, you may be thinking that this was just a letter of drama, but I hope you would continue reading and knew our requests. Yes, we knew that we do not have the right to asked for more because teaching us was already too much for you. I hope you knew how proud we were about having an elder sibling amongst our friends. We hoped we could be as independent as you are.
We were truly sorry that we cannot understand how ten less six was equal to four. We do not know why these numbers do not go as organized in our minds as it was written in our modules. Please do not scribble on our paper and hard tearing it when we misspelled the word “beautiful”. We may do not get its spelling, but we knew exactly that it defines what you were. That was why I cannot blame those teenagers who came to me and asked about you. You are as beautiful as a person.
Please do not shout at us when most of the time was just wasted as we cannot still understand the same things you have been repeating. Call it overacting but your loud violent voice does not just ring into our ears but also in our eyes. As much as we wanted to say “Wag mo naman akong sigawan. Pinipilit ko namang intindihin kaso nahihirapan talaga ako eh,” we can’t since we genuinely understand that you were also stressed with your modules or online classes. We were sorry that we were not able to help you.
We hope that we were as intelligent as you, so that we were not a bothersome sibling but please do not insult nor curse us as the precious time that you had, was put to waste for us.
You do not know how much we cherished every second of it and so as your smiles and small compliments you gave whenever we do things right. We felt like we were the most valued person in the world having your precious time spared with us.
Every time we irritate your scalp out and if ever you’d considered our burden, I hope you remembered that though we were scared, we’d still be wanting to sit beside you and seized the moment looking at your face wanting to make you smile. No matter how bad you hurt us, we understood as we love you more than you could imagine.
