Nowadays, millennials are searching for a new hub in which they can spend time with themselves where they can have a good place to take photos and to be posted on their social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. A coffee shop is the best example of it.

This is a sweet haven for millennials to update their social media accounts and a better place to study their lessons or review diligently some work-related documents. It also a location for catching up with old friends and a place to conduct a casual business meeting.

On the other hand, some of them missed the best experience of going to such a coffee shop, it is the taste of their Coffee, itself. As per Honoré de Balzac, “As soon as coffee is in your stomach, there is a general commotion. Ideas begin to move...similes arise, the paper is covered. Coffee is your ally and writing ceases to be a struggle.” This is when you can think better and do your best as the caffeine makes your brain alert and focus on things that need to finish as soon as possible.

Coffee shops are one of the booming industries in the country. In General Santos, there are lots of coffee shops and one of these is NOT YOUR TYPICAL coffee shop is the Workstation as they are situated along the street specifically in #46 UR BOX Space Rentals, Zapote Street corner Sampaguita Street. This made them unique amongst their competitors.

They are selling Cold and Hot Brewed Coffees such as Iced Caramel (Top Seller), Iced Mocha, Iced Red Velvet, V60 Pourover, Drip Coffee, Cold Brew Bottled (Signature Product), and Aeropress Coffee. They are also selling some pastries and nuts.

The Food Editorial Co.- The Yummy Food Guide gave some points to remember on how to describe your favorite coffee. Here are the following basic descriptive criteria:
  • Acidity
This is the most important distinguishing characteristic of coffee. It is defined as a pleasant sharpness around the edges of the tongue and towards the back of the palate. The sensation may be described as dryness by some people. Acidity should not be confused with sourness, as good coffee should have some degree of acidity. Acidity provides the punch to a coffee and a lack of such will result in a dull, flat lifeless brew. Coffees described as mellow have low acidity but should have enough to avoid blandness.

For the Workstation Coffee, 8/10.

  • Body
This refers to the texture of the coffee as it is perceived in the mouth. Is it rich and heavy or light and watery for example? The body or texture of a coffee is in direct proportion to the number of oils and soluble compounds extracted during the brewing process. A stronger brew for example would be considered to have more body.

For the Workstation Coffee, 9/10

  • Aroma
This refers to the sensation perceived by the nasal passages because of interaction with the aromatic oils and volatile compounds released during the brewing process. The nose should be very close to the beverage and one should inhale fully to appreciate the full aroma. Descriptive associations are then used to describe the smell. Examples include, burnt, fragrant, musty, nutty, winey, spicy, chocolaty, earthy, and bland.

For the Workstation Coffee, 9/10

  • Flavour
This is used to describe the overall effect of the previously discussed acidity, body, and aroma plus the main sensations experienced by our tongues such as bitterness, sourness, saltiness, or sweetness. This is the most difficult criterion to get right and can be very subjective.

For the Workstation Coffee, 9/10

Though mention criteria are subjective according to one’s preference. Just try it and have your ratings on their coffee and you will be amazed after you tried it.

As of now, they are currently having a one-size serving option. The packaging is unique, and the price is right.
